Epic Places You’ll Always Recommend
After traveling to numerous places around the world, there are a handful of destinations that have left a lasting impression on me, places that I’ll always recommend to fellow travelers. These spots are more than just picturesque—they offer experiences that are unique, awe-inspiring, and unforgettable.
1. Santorini, Greece
Santorini’s stunning sunsets and iconic white-washed buildings set against the backdrop of the Aegean Sea make it a bucket-list destination. The island’s beauty is undeniable, but it’s the charm of its narrow streets, local wineries, and delicious cuisine that truly make it special. Whether you’re exploring the caldera or enjoying a glass of Assyrtiko wine, Santorini offers an unforgettable blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
2. Kyoto, Japan
Kyoto, the heart of traditional Japan, is a place where ancient temples, serene gardens, and traditional tea houses coexist with modern life. It’s here that you can wander through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, explore the mesmerizing Fushimi Inari Shrine with its thousands of red torii gates, and experience the calm beauty of Gion at dusk. Kyoto offers a deep connection to Japan’s cultural roots, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in history, art, and tranquility.
3. Reykjavik and the Golden Circle, Iceland
Iceland is a place of dramatic landscapes—lava fields, glaciers, and geysers all come together in a place unlike anywhere else on earth. I highly recommend the Golden Circle route, which takes you to some of Iceland’s most iconic sights, like the Geysir geothermal area and the powerful Gullfoss waterfall. Reykjavik, with its colorful buildings and unique vibe, offers a great introduction to Icelandic culture. For a truly unforgettable experience, relax in the Blue Lagoon or take a dip in the natural hot springs, surrounded by volcanic rocks.
4. Machu Picchu, Peru
Machu Picchu is a destination that lives up to the hype. The ancient Incan city, perched high in the Andes, is one of the most awe-inspiring sites I’ve ever visited. Whether you hike the Inca Trail or take the train, the journey to Machu Picchu is part of the experience. Standing at the top, overlooking the misty ruins, I couldn’t help but marvel at the skill and ingenuity of the ancient civilization that built this incredible site.
5. Cape Town, South Africa
Cape Town is a city that offers a perfect mix of natural beauty, history, and vibrant culture. From the stunning views atop Table Mountain to the historic Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, Cape Town offers something for every traveler. The city is also surrounded by stunning beaches, vineyards, and the Cape of Good Hope, making it an excellent base for exploration. The blend of stunning scenery and rich history makes Cape Town a destination I’ll always recommend.
6. Queenstown, New Zealand
Known as the adventure capital of the world, Queenstown in New Zealand is a place where adrenaline meets breathtaking landscapes. Whether you’re bungee jumping, skiing, or simply enjoying the view of Lake Wakatipu surrounded by the Southern Alps, Queenstown offers a little bit of everything. It’s also an excellent base for exploring nearby Fiordland National Park, where you can hike through some of the most pristine wilderness in the world.
These epic places, each with its own unique character and charm, have all left lasting impressions on me. They offer a mix of natural beauty, cultural richness, and unforgettable experiences that make them destinations worth visiting again and again.
